La Lunaire is the perfect spot to relax whether it's poolside or sitting in the grounds with a book and a cool drink. For the times when you want to venture further and explore, whatever your tastes or interests, the area has plenty to offer all year round.

We have 2 nearby villages; Verteillac which is 5 minutes away offers several restaurants, a butchers, bakers and a vast eclectic family-run- all-purpose store. Cherval, 5 minutes in the opposite direction has a baker, small shop and a very popular bar often hosting musical events.

Nearby Aubeterre is considered to be one of the prettiest villages in France, the picturesque square is full of cafes, restaurants and small shops leads to a stunning monolithic church

The ancient town of Brantôme nestles in a cluster of limestone caves with a magnificent Abbey on the banks of the River Drone.

Périgueux, the capital of the Perigord has a beautifully restored renaissance quarter with narrow, cool and cobbled streets opening out onto sun-filled squares.

The fascinating town of Sarlat has influences from medieval and Renaissance times, the early morning sun on the yellow sandstone buildings in a sight to behold.

The town of Ribérac is a 10 minute drive and boasts one of the largest markets in the Périgord, selling local produce, ceramics, arts and crafts and much more. Many nearby towns and villages have morning markets on different days of the week. In the summer months the area is teeming with brocantes and "vide-greniers", masses of stalls selling everything from antiques to general bric-a-brac. A collectors dream

There are many river beaches near to La Lunaire, most offer spots to swim. Canoeing is very popular and it varies from lazy days drifting along the river to the more challenging, depending on how energetic you feel. The wonderful lake 'Lac Jemaye' has a child-friendly swimming area and shady spots to picnic.

There are several riding stables within a 15 minute drive and beautiful woodland tracks to explore. For golf enthusiasts there is a popular 18-hole course close to Périgueux and a 9-hole course at the Manoir De Longeveaux which also has tennis courts and a club house open to the public.

Cycling is a passion in France and we can suggest places to hire bikes. For walkers, the trails are plentiful and varied, as it the flora and fauna.

In easy driving distance from La Lunaire are many famous wineries and vineyards including Cognac, St Emillion and Bergerac. We are also an hour and a half from the bustling city of Bordeaux. Known as the Paris of North West France, the historical old town offers beautiful cobbled lanes teeming with cafés, bars and restaurants all serving Bordeaux's famous wines. It's also a great place to shop!

Closer to La Lunaire are several chateaux and caves which offer all types of wine-tasting.

Our onsite restaurant "À Table" is very popular with locals and visitors throughout the year. Venturing not too far afield there is a wonderful range of bars and restaurants. We can recommend the best, we've tried them all!
